Activity life at Bellavista Barry during lockdown – Message from Barry Activity Coordinator 09/06/2020

Activity life as normal as possible for its residents at Bellavista Nursing Home Barry during lockdown . As we are all currently living in these uncertain and worrying times with the ongoing covid 19 situation, we appreciate that for the families and friends of those in our care, and for there loved ones themselves that this is a extremely difficult time and for most the longest time they have been apart. In accordance with government guidelines and advice to protect the most vulnerable we closed our doors to everyone except our essential key worker staff. We empathise with yourselves on how difficult this must be so we have put in place a skype facility and for those without skype,  activity coordinators also using mobile phone to facilitate video calls. We are exploring options for easing restrictions to enable relatives or close friends to visit with their loved ones in ways that adhere to current Government guidance and protect both visitors, residents and staff teams . Please be advised our visiting restrictions still remain the same at present.

Although life outside Bellavista is uncertain, we at Bellavista  are keeping spirits high, providing not only physical but emotional support to those in our care. The well being of those in our care is of great importance and in house have continued as normal during these times. Our activities have included chair exercise, massage, nail painting, skittles, art therapy, aqua painting, clay modelling, craft, music therapy sessions, kendo draw and virtual pottery and board games. One to one company and activity of choice is also available. For those who do not wish to participate in activities, one to one company and conversation to reduce feelings of isolation and uncertainty. We can assure you that we continue to take the appropriate precautionary measures to protect  from the risk of the coronavirus  and ensuring that we are up to date with the latest guidance and advice published by the Government and Public Health WALES .

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the support that you are giving to us at this challenging time.
